Argleton is a fictitious location supposedly located in West Lancashire, England. The settlement at one time appeared on Google Maps and Google Earth, and although it was recently removed, the previous location is still listed in search results. Argleton was first discovered in September of 2008 and developed a large following on the Internet, complete with a fictitious web site that contained history and current events of the village. It has been suggested that the location was created as a copyright trap.

Legend has it that a large gold mine, known as the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine, is hidden somewhere in the southwestern United States, possibly in the Superstition Mountains, or even in Mexico. The mine, possibly the most famous of the lost mines in the United States, is rumored to be cursed, as many have searched for it and a number have mysteriously disappeared while attempting to find its location. A man named Jacob Waltz supposedly discovered the mine in the 19th century but kept the location a secret.
