The Bunny Man is the legend of a man dressed in a bunny suit who attacks and brutally kills people with an axe. The alleged incidents usually occur in the area of the “Bunny Man Bridge” in Fairfax County, Virginia, and originated in 1970. Two separate incidents were reported in the span of just over a week where a man dressed in a bunny suit, apparently upset with trespassers, threatened people with an axe. Elaborate origins of the Bunny Man describe him as an escaped mental patient who mutilated victims before being killed by a train passing over “Bunny Man Bridge”, and that his ghost still inhabits the site.

The Texas City Disaster was the explosion of 2300 tons of ammonium nitrate and small arms ammunition on board the French ship SS Grandcamp in the port of Texas City, Texas, on April 16, 1947. Another ship that was nearby, the SS High Flyer, was carrying an additional hold of nearly 1000 tons of ammonium nitrate, and it exploded approximately fifteen hours later. The incident is regarded as the worst industrial accident in the history of the United States, and killed nearly 600 people. Damage from the blast, felt up to 250 miles away, was estimated at $100 million.

Mock execution is a method of torture where victims are made to believe they are about to executed in order to get them to confess. It has been used on multiple occasions by governments and military organizations as a form of capital punishment inflicted on suspected criminals in the hopes of traumatizing the person to the point that he will “spill it”. Mock execution has also been dramatized many times in literature and film, such as the written works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky and the novel and film Fight Club.

Unsinkable Sam was the nickname given to a ship’s cat who served on board three vessels in World War II and survived the sinking of each ship. He was originally part of the German battleship Bismarck which was sunk in May of 1941. Pulled from the sea by the British destroyerCossack, the cat was nicknamed Oscar and began to serve on board. His new berth sank in late October and he then served on the British aircraft carrier Ark Royal and given the new nickname Unsinkable Sam. Again he was rescued at sea after the carrier was torpedoed in mid November. Sam was thereafter retired from active sea duty and spent the majority of the remainder of his life in Belfast.

The Grinning Man refers to a mysterious figure that has been sighted during periods of UFO encounters. It is unknown if the Grinning Man is a human or an extraterrestrial. He has been described as tall and imposing in stature, dressed in a green outfit that reflected light and glistened, with a dark and tanned complexion and overall unsettling appearance. A common attribute is that he is seen by witnesses simply grinning, thus his name. He was cited during the period of the Mothman sightings in West Virginia.
