Mock execution

Mock execution is a method of torture where victims are made to believe they are about to executed in order to get them to confess. It has been used on multiple occasions by governments and military organizations as a form of capital punishment inflicted on suspected criminals in the hopes of traumatizing the person to the point that he will “spill it”. Mock execution has also been dramatized many times in literature and film, such as the written works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky and the novel and film Fight Club.
